about

The storyline for this track is I'm hungry with them munchies and proceed to ask a guy for a nickel so I can buy food. The rest of the track is his response. The a capella at the end is a lil' poem I had written for English class that ended up tying in perfectly with the theme of the song.

lyrics

"Freedom" by Aleyes

Reach into my pocket, just a locket and dust bunnies
Need some food for stoppin' and demolishin' bunk munchies
A dollar from lunch money, it's straggled a little
I'll ask this man for a nickel but he'll just probably run from me
"You're out of your luck, buddy. Ain't payin' my rent
Cause I ain't a makin' a cent up in this here poverty-struck country
You long for a stuffed tummy; I long for careers
But it's hard workin' hear with the gossip lodged in your ear
like, 'He prolly has no education, prolly a broke generation/
Posit I'm homeless and vagrant.' Tired of this whole denigration
Home in my basement, just trynna make end's meet
Wouldn't it be nice if my room was raised ten feet?
Well it is cause I'm living at the top of apartments
They gave me dollars to garnish so they could drop me in garbage
Lost in the market, as if it were "the clash" at the cashier
Fightin' cause these prices were like half of that last year"

(Hook [x2])
Victoria:
We will be hungry
So long, as we're so far from freedom.
Aleyes:
No freedom means a life without meanin'
Now I'm cryin' and pleadin' to find my rhyme and my reason

(Verse 2)
Ever consider what it means to be free? Legally free?
Exempt from the madman I frequently see
Deceivingly scheme, back stab but peacefully preach
Or take your cheese like a fat man who greedily pleads
They secretly meet at a mahogany table
Just to take your freedom of speech, your every plot to keep stable/
I oughtta be able to have my own opinion and voice it
And prove you wrong like Columbus when he went on that voyage
Yup I'm about to talk in a fast pace cause I'm mouthin' off in a bad way
But I can't wait for your bad ways to come around and bomb on your fat face
Cause your mouth is gargling champagne while you down and scarf on a crab cake
So your handshakes never translate and I ain't bound to walk in your rat race
I try to argue reasonably
but I'm indecent and brash with pardoned reasons to be
I grind my teeth and I gnash, then lie and think in the grass
This kinda freedom we have is far from freedom to me, so peace

(Hook [x2])

(Verse 3 [A capella])
The American Dream, consisting of a Porshe and a yacht
Well, it really just applies to children born at the top
These fortunate jocks, eating from a porcelain pot
Yo, but what I had for dinner was some corn on the cob
"Stay in school, get good grades, no cheating on tests"
Apparently they say that it's the key to success
I'm pleading with death, askin' if this life's worth livin'
Trynna make efficient moves because this time sure's tickin'
Ain't even thinkin' bout a family, or raisin' a son
'Cause I've been running out of juice like a raisin in sun
Takin' the plunge, and workin' but not makin' the funds
Yea, they should really call this dream the unattainable one

...and thas real
